One Edgy Day at Lunch

Sitting in the perturbed wooden chair,
seeing the people paste the people,
the soft red shoes, blinded eyes,
frozen hair shifting, nice from a distance,
but abrasive like a worn track,
and not welcoming, and full of lines,
where eyeballs swivel sharply to sting,
to catch the part of life that matters,
while the napkins sing for company,
the napkins being stretched and lonely,
where the hippie paper crawls in the crack
to avoid being dedicated to the deepest,
most smelly brown bin of evil,
the one I count on for swallowing
all of my sickness while I ride
the spaceship designed by a man
who swims in the brown soil.

Oh, wow, you must lose the bedspread!

I see a color pattern in your poetry, Carl. Here we have red, brown and brown, what, in a certain sense, means impasse/opposition (maybe for the one sitting in the perturbed wooden chair – also brown) and concordance between the “smelly brown bin” (it even sounds like you have been reading Part II of a book currently in hands) and the man who swims in the brown soil. Favorite line: “while the napkins sing for company”. Incredible way of telling!

Thank you so much for your comment. I love the conglomerate of colors in our world and how they work on us.

It was “peturbed wooden chair” that grabbed my attention. A nice description.

excellent imagery in this plus deep emotions..the spaceship ride…the singing napkins…the hippie paper and i too would love to have a bin that swallows everything that keeps me back from singing along life..
