Fondue Pot Face

This ain’t no poem,

and now I feel
better, you?

Mountains of cookies,
inedible, floating just at the bottom
of consciousness. I’m mad, but it
shouldn’t hurt you, and your mouth
might be agape, you finding I function
at times (surely not now).

I’m up and
down. You know that, so why waste
my ink when I’m a rag worse than the
paper I write on.

The wind is dry and
soft, marinating my hair, readying
me for fits when someone speaks
truth. All that was ever good, that
will ever be good (about me) melts
in the fondue pot that the crazy
burglar holds, ready to smash
my face good.

I share with you
about my fears so that I might
cut them in half, but instead,
they swallow me whole.

they way you have used “marinating” – now there is a lot of possibilities in using that in different references. One comes to mind: “Soon after joining the New France Socialist Party his mind was marinated with the ideas of Marx and dialectical materialism”

At risk of sounding uninspired, you are extremely talented. Wish I had something profound to say about your poetry other than it speaks to me. From what I’ve read in this poetry community, I gather that you are original and inventive when compared.

I’m inspired by your kindness. It’s gratifying to know that someone enjoys something that goes up here. Honestly, it keeps me going.

    “Mountains of cookies,
inedible, floating just at the bottom
    of consciousness.”
Those are seriously arresting lines. Incredible imagery.
Also, remember that halving something doubles it in quantity.

Thank you for your comment. Your reminder is great. I think some of us think that when it is cut in half, half disappears, but it doesn’t, does it?

“This ain’t no poem” That’s a good start! Keep writing, hold fast to the Truth; it will banish fear.
