I was on a taut tightrope today.
It was huge. You could look inside
me and see these excited little bugs
dancing all around, and all of my
muscles were doing the dancing
on the tightrope. You would not see
this on the outside, but you would see
a guy who seemed okay. I wasn’t hating
myself today, and you don’t have to
call it god, but this terrific hurricane
of good came through me and sparkled
all of my rotten organs and fused me
with these lights that blazed out to
the paintings on the walls of the old
red brick building with the intricate
white front, and when I walked over
the bridge, all of the purple birds
inside of me started chirping music
that delighted my soul.

Fantastic choice of imagery to describe the process. And I dig the positivity.

Thank you for your comment. The positivity felt awkward and uncomfortable, perhaps too Prima Donna…

Let some of the outside marinade soak in.

I haven’t commented in a while but I have been reading. You always seem to reach inside and tickle something even if I can’t always describe just what that is. Thanks.

Thank you for commenting. I understand. Sometimes, I think we like things at a gut level, and that is a good thing.

I’m going to crash my cruise boat into that bridge so you have to stay on that side of it.

You have a cruise boat? I knew you had a trick up your sleeve!

Wow, there’s some life in this poem. Are you in a positive phase? Love the poem!

Thank you, Val. The cognitive battle is toward the positive. It’s a good battle when you win once in a while.
