Medicine for Misused Humans

I wear my headphones. They help me grind through insanely boring work. People think I’m rude and I use the headphones because I don’t like people. Most times, I hope they’re wrong. When my headphones are off, all that I hear is insane, meaningless chatter – Meaningless because there is so much of it that it no longer sounds like English. I can only hear rising and lowering tones and then slow are then more rapid rhythms. Usually it is active recaps of last night’s network TV. I love random chance music, but I’d rather listen to my favorite composers instead. Sometimes I listen to Insane Clown Posse, and I hope I don’t sing along too loudly because those guys say a lot of bad words. I like my Pearl Jam or some Soundgarden. I like Bach. I love Brahms but when I listen to Brahms I air-conduct too wildly.

Give me the headphones. You recreate my own frustrations here. Your last sentence is fantastic on top of what precedes it.

Thank you so much – I appreciate those kind words. The last sentence was almost off the wall but that’s why I liked it.

I am with you. I need my dose of Parkway Drive.

That Parkway Drive is pretty intense. I had not heard them before…More to explore! 🙂

I’m so excited you checked them out!! What’s so wonderful about the intensity is that when the softer, really melodic parts hit, they are so much sweeter. It’s heaven. I’m addicted to Deep Blue. Let it grow on you. After about five listens, it will be woven into your soul. You won’t be able to listen to anything else.

Just be careful if you listen while driving. You’ll have the need to run everyone off the road. 🙂

Your mention of Soundgarden has me pining for some Chris Cornell…

I love contrast, so I am going to have to go all the way through on Deep Blue.

I have had jobs where I wore not headphones, but earplugs, to shut out the squealing of people who should be doing what they’re getting paid for instead of personally annoying me.

Sometimes I wish I had an isolation room, but I like working with people – Nasty clash of values there…

Unfortunately, most office chatter isn’t worth listening to. Sad that so many days of people’s lives are spent in such shallowness. Give me music ANY DAY!

It’s nice not to be alone…
