Stretching obstinately,
proving to you that I can manage flying powerfully
through the friendly universe,
listening to a spirit from tall balloons
telling me freedom allows me to travel anywhere,
and happiness might always lie there.
Dreaming of brooms with sharp Michigan tornadoes
rolling through steamy purple clouds running uphill
toward a castle made of velvety moss and soft stairs
in greens and pinks found only in South America,
allowing me to encase myself with the most
intense passion, compassion, kindness,
and love for you without any regard for anything else
in the whole bag of tricks, all of which being irrelevant.
I long for your forgiveness and I may be deserving.

I thought this might be a good submission for One Shot Wednesday. Go check out all of the wonderful work happening over there.

the bag of tricks being irrelevant I imagine as long as the bag contains tricks they get us through but that’s temporary. Where is the useful and real relevance? How do we find it ?

Thank you for your comment. If I am spiritual, I think I find it in other beings…

“listening to a spirit from tall balloons”
and
“allowing me to encase myself with the most
intense passion, compassion, kindness,
and love for you without any regard for anything else
in the whole bag of tricks, all of which being irrelevant.
I long for your forgiveness and I may be deserving.”
I love the vulnerability, I love the love, I love the giving despite the challenges of life.
just honest and sharp and wonderful.

Your comment means the world to me. Does this mean that I am allowed to write poetry on subjects such as love? 🙂

Really enjoyed the depth and imagery you used in this poem Carl. It’s a thoroughly beautiful write showing us the pseudo idealisms that are love personified. Thanks for sharing x

Darned sharp Michigan tornadoes! (That’s why I don’t live in a trailer park!)

Too bad, Eric! The sharp ones head for the sharp houses, skipping the trailer parks.

You must have spent a lot of time flying because you have certainly seen clouds from both sides here. Your imagery is articulated so vividly and completely I felt I was flying down to Rio with you myself! Well done! Gay
