Sharp Pieces of Jug

If the plug is in the jug, does the stuff rot?
My malady lingers, but I see the rest of you recovered.
I want past tense too.
How would the room smell
if I threw the jug against the wall and there was spray?
All of the jugs left my world in the blackest of minivans,
and peace came and made my senses waiver like a butterfly.
The rest of you manifest so beautifully.
All the pieces of jug continue shattering my mind,
and until I clean my mind and kill it with drugs,
the flowers in my bed will be dying and laughing.

“flowers in my bed will be dying and laughing” In alcoholism recovery “put the plug in the jug” is a well known cliche. And dying while laughing is an apt characterization because addiction is the only disease that tells you everything is OK as it kills you. So we cannot clean our mind by killing “it” with drugs. Indeed the piece of the jug are very smart.

Thank you for your comment, Carl. And yes, I was picking on the cliche…

Nice write. Wanting to kill it with drugs is a normal thought process as it’s one disease that can be a manifest symptom of another. Although everyone who is an alcoholic addict in recovery, like me, “are” at least a dualie.. smiles..

Thanks for stopping by Carl! My addiction is at http://booguloo.wordpress.com/2010/10/30/tweaker/
